Acceptance and Commissioning

7.1 Introduction

This section provides a recommended test plan for commissioning and accepting
Lightscape Networks

SDM-1 units. The purpose of these tests is to ascertain that

the

SDM-1 performs in accordance with its functional requirements.

The functionality of the

SDM-1 multiplexer as reflected in these tests is based on

ITU-T G.783 recommendations, with certain additions or modifications related to
the customer requirements. Management functionality is based on ITU-T G.784
recommendations.

7.1.1 Measuring and Test Equipment Required

The following equipment is required to perform the

SDM-1 acceptance and

commissioning tests:

Optical splitters

Optical power meter

Optical attenuator

♦

PDH transmission analyzer for 2, 34, 45 Mbit/s and VID
