Grounding
To thread wires to circuit breaker(s) (CB) or terminal points (TPs), loosen screws,
insert wire(s) and then tighten the screws to the circuit breaker.
1. Connect the PDF GND cable to the rack GND screw using the cable supplied
with the PDF.
2. The PDF is mounted to the rack, using six M6 screws thus providing chassis
connection to ground.
Power Cable Connection and Voltage Tests
1. Pull the DC power wires from the ceiling, and connect them to the PDF TP.
2. Connect the power cable between the PDF and Power IN of the
µ
SDM-1,
making sure not to cross the connections (i.e., connect to + to + and the - to -).
3. Insert the circuit breakers to the PDF.
4. Turn
ON
the PDF circuit breaker(s) and use the DMM to check that the
voltage between the TP terminals is between 48 V dc and 72 V dc.
5. Turn
OFF
the PDF circuit breaker(s).
External Clock Cable
The external clock equipment is permanently connected to the reference clock
µ
SDM-1 system to synchronize the network, or temporarily to any
µ
SDM-1 for test
purposes.
1. Connect the accurate clock source (2,048 kHz) to the clock connector (J17)
on the NE. The clock configuration should be:
Accuracy-18 ppm
Amplitude sinus modulated - 1.5V p-p
2. Connect the ground pin to Earth.
3. Connect the aggregate fibers to the ODF.
4. Make power connections to the circuit breaker.
5. Connect the traffic cables to the DDF.
6. For 75
Ω
coax connection to a clock input, use an appropriate adapter kit
including an extension cord; contact your Lightscape Networks
representative to receive the adapter kit.
