5.4.6 Procedure of flash code diagnosis
Mode Procedure System response Operation
Three possible responses:
1. ABS warning light is on
instantly and then off, indicating
the system is OK.
There is no practical trouble
in ABS and no action is
needed
2. ABS warning light is not on,
indicating a circuit or bulb failure. Inspect the circuit and bulb
and make necessary repair.
Step 1: turn on the ignition
switch
3. ABS light keeps on, indicating
there is one or several troubles in
the system Go on to do the flash code
diagnosis (Step 2)
Step 2: press the flash code
switch and hold it down for one
second
ABS warning light starts to flash
two groups of codes
Determine whether the
trouble is a practical one or
a stored one;
Practical trouble: the light
will repeatedly display one
code
Stored trouble: the light will
display the code of each
stored trouble and then off.
The trouble will be
displayed only once.
Step 3: determine the flash code
according to the number of
flashings
The first group of figures:
Which will be flashed for 1-8 times
with an intermission of 1.5 seconds
The second group of figures:
Which will be flashed for 1-6 times
with an intermission of 4 second
Turn off the ignition switch
and determine the trouble
type by referring to the
flash code table.
Diagnosis
Step 4: correct and record the
trouble Practical trouble Make necessary correction.
Repeat the steps 1, 2, 3 till
the system is OK.
Trouble storation
Record it for future
reference.
Note: the trouble first to be
displayed is the one that
was last stored in ECU.
Clearing
ABS light flashes at least 8 times All troubles are successfully
cleared and the light will be
off. Step 5: For clearing the troubles,
press the flash code switch and
hold it down for at least 3
seconds
No 8 flashes are seen. The practical trouble still
exists. Repeat the steps 1-5.
