Rotate input flange in both directions several times. Then
measure total rolling torque (pinion bearing and differential
bearing) to check the differential bearing rolling torque.
The total rolling torque depends on the ratio „i“ (see
identification plate) and on the pinion bearing rolling torque (see
figure 15).
Actual i
≤ 7.38:
Total roll. torque = pinion bearing roll. 2 Nm ± 1 Nm
Actual i > 7.38:
Total roll. torque = pinion bearing roll. 1.5 Nm ± 0.5
Nm
If the specified total rolling torque is not found, correct the
shim (figure 38) as follows:
Insufficient rolling torque
→ mount thicker shim
Excessive rolling torque → mount thinner shim
Bring axle housing in upright position and remove portal
housing.

Install the shaft seal by using the driver tool (S) with the sealing
lip facing the oil chamber.

Wet outer diameter of shaft seal with spirit right before
installation.
Use of the specified driver tool (S) ensures the exact
installation position.
