4.6 Shift-OAE
Refer to paragraph 3.6 to obtain the necessary instructions about the needed equipment and the setup.
4.6.1 Setting up measurement parameters
Once the clinical Shift-OAE diagnosis type has been
selected its configuration window appears. It is a way of
adjusting the parameters appearing in the following ta-
ble.

Adjust the intensity of the acoustic stimulation F2
Advised: between 60 and 75dB

Adjust the intensity of the acoustic stimulation F1
It is advised to use the same value as F2
L1 – L2 Fixed
When checked, the value of L1 varies proportionally to the variation of
L2 maintaining a fixed differential. To modify the value of L1 individu-
ally, deselect this checkbox.

Set the necessary average to acquire a point
Advised: at least 40

Left/Right Select which ear to test
After selecting the ear (right or left) and plugged the
OAE
Probe, the «Start» button became available. Click on it to
start the measurement.
4.6.2 Measurement
The Shift-OAE measurement window opens and ena-
bles you to firstly adjust the initial position of the pa-
tient. There is a representative color for each position:
Vertical , Horizontal , Inclined or Other . Once you
have chosen the position, click on " Start " to begin the
measurement. The patient hears the sound.
The icon of a floppydisk at the bottom right of the screen is used for recording the parameters defined above.
They then become the default parameters for this type of measurement.

This first step of the measurement is a self-calibration which last few seconds (2 or 3 seconds). During
this first step, the surrounding noise must be kept as low as possible.
