6.3 Hydrops (Shift-OAE and DPMC)
1.
Stimulation power selection slider.
a – For
Shift-OAE
, by clicking on the wheel, a menu appears to set the power difference (in dBSPL) between L1 and
L2. This difference is fixed, so when there is a power variation in L2 (item 2), L1 will receive the same variation.

Select the number of average (number of stimulation) for one point.

Select measurement frequency.

Rejection setting: Artifact rejection is performed differently for the two measurements.
a – For
shift-OAE
the value corresponds to the acoustic noise level in dB SPL above which the acquisition will be
rejected.
b – For
DPMC
, it is activated by checking the "Rejection" box and can be configured in two ways: automatic adjust-
ment of the threshold by checking the "Adaptive rejection" box, or manually using the slider (by placing the mouse
over the slider, the upper and lower thresholds defined will form a gray area behind the curve). The first adjustment
of the rejection should be done through the "real time signal" tab at the top left of the graph. By clicking on the tab, it
will be possible to visualize the electrophysiological signal corresponding to the selected ear side.
This is used to evaluate the quality of the me-sure con-
ditions. Normally, if the conditions are good, the signal
should be contained in the default rejection zone (10
µV). If this is not the case, several factors may be in-
volved:
-Impedances are not good.
-The patient is not relaxed or is not well installed, which
produces too much muscle activity.
-A source of electromagnetic radiation is interfering
with the signal.

Display of an explicative image for the connection of the device and the patient.

Click on a picture to select the ear side.

Selection of the position of the patient during the measurement: standing, lying down, head down, other.
As it is a postural test, the change of position during the examination is what reveals the difference in intracochlear
pressure between two positions. Thanks to these buttons, the change is signaled to the software, so that the visual indi-
cation (color of the curve) and the automatic calculation of the average between successive points of the same position
are possible.

Start a new measurement. It is also used to resume measurement avec a break

Take a break in the measurement to change the patient position for exemple.

Allows you to move on to the next stimulation point when it is not going well (excessive patient tension, excessive
noise in the measurement room...).

This panel is used to control the impedances. The impedance values should be as small and balanced as possible to
ensure the quality of the measurement.
