VEMP
to obtain the necessary instructions about the needed equipment and the setup.
4.4.1
Setting up measurement parameters
Once the clinical
VEMP
diagnosis type has been se-
lected its configuration window appears. It is a way of
adjusting the parameters appearing in the following ta-
ble.
Number of stims
Defined the number of averages (number of clicks) needed to obtain a
measurement.
Advised: at least 50 averages
Click / Second (Hz)
Number of clicks/Burst made per second
Advised: 6 clicks per second
Set Power
Used for selecting the acoustic intensities to be tested as well as the rep-
etition for each of the selected intensities
Connected stimulator
To see which stimulator is connected and switch between the two audio
output
Tube
This option must be checked if you use a tube between the acoustic
stimulator and the subject's ear in order to automatically correct the de-
lay and the power loss induced by this tube.
Clic/Burst 500 Hz
Select the acoustic stimulation type
Left/Right
Used for selecting the
ear or ears
to be tested.
After selecting the ear and connecting the E
CHO
-
DIF
, the "
Start
" and "
Rejection
" buttons are activated. The central
rectangle displays the impedance value measured on the electrodes:
V+
V+
and
V-
in reference to
REF
.
The impedance values must be as small and well bal-
anced as possible to guarantee measurement quality.
As soon as the impedances are correct, calibrate rejection. This is an essential stage which must be carried out with
the greatest care possible. The purpose is to define the average muscular activity level of the patient in supine position.
Click on "
Rejection
" to open the configuration window for this parameter.
On the device, only
cVEMP
are available, to make
oVEMP
, please use the software
ECHOSOFT
and
refer to paragraphe
If value
V-
is greater than 7kΩ, wipe the patient’s sternum again and reattach new electrodes.
If value
V+
is greater than
7kΩ, check that the sternocleidomastoid muscle electrode is properly placed. If
necessary, wipe the patient’s skin again and reattach new electrodes.
If the
V+
and
V-
values are greater than 7kΩ, check that the clips and electrophysiology cable are properly con-
nected. If these 2 values are less than 10kΩ but are balanced (deviation < ±2k
), measurement is possible.
The icon of a floppydisk at the bottom right of the screen is used for recording the parameters defined above.
They then become the default parameters for this type of measurement.
