Pneumotach (VENTILATOR Mode)
The pneumotach (Flow-REE) is a “variable orifice”
flowmeter, used during REE measurement with
ventilated subjects
The pressure drop across the transparent flexible
plastic screen is directly proportional to the amount of
air flow passing through the flowmeter.
To achieve the maximal possible accuracy a rapid
flowmeter calibration prior to each REE measurement
is mandatory.

The device will prompt the user to perform pneumotach calibration when starting a measurement in VENTILATOR
Mode. The same calibration procedure can be launched from the calibration menu. Flow-REE will be calibrated
against the flow of air generated by the internal Canopy blower, monitored by a pre-calibrated internal turbine
flowmeter, to generate a known amount of inhalation flow that will be compared with the one measured by the
single use pneumotach to calculate the ideal correction factor.
