Automatically Setting the Copy Ratio Based on the Original
and Paper Sizes (Auto)
In Auto, the machine automatically adjusts the vertical and horizontal dimensions by the same ratio
based on the size of your originals and the size of the selected paper. The range of copy ratios is
25% to 400%.
IMPORTANT
• You cannot use Auto with Auto Paper Selection.
• You cannot copy highly transparent originals, such as transparencies, in the auto mode.
• To use Auto, your originals must conform to a standard paper size.
NOTE
• If an error occurs between the Auto copy ratio and the actual copy size, you can adjust this with the Zoom
Fine Adjustment function. (See “Fine-tuning the Zoom Function,” in the Reference Guide.)
• Paper placed in the stack bypass normally is not processed in the auto mode. To process this paper in the
auto mode, you must first specify the size of the paper to be placed in the stack bypass. (See “Using the
Stack Bypass,” on p. 2-17.)
• The paper sizes that can be used with the auto mode are as follows:
- For an original placed on the platen glass: 11"x17", LGL, LTR, LTRR
- For originals placed in the feeder:
11"x17", LGL, LTR, LTRR, STMT
