Adjusting Scan Settings
The scan settings include Color Mode, Document Size, Resolution, Exposure, Density/Original
Type, and Option. You can also make detailed scan function settings such as scanning two original
pages as a single document.
NOTE
• Modified scan modes are not saved. To save settings see “Storing Often-used Scan Settings,” on p. 4-30.

Color Mode
Select Full Color if you want to send the document in color, otherwise select Black. Make your
selection from the color mode drop-down list box.
• Full Color: All documents are scanned in full color.
• Black:
All documents, including color documents, are scanned in monochrome.
NOTE
• If full color mode is selected but the recipient has only a G3 Fax, the document will be scanned in mono-
chrome.

Document Size
Select the scanning size. Press the [Document Size] key to make your selection.
• Select from standard scan sizes such as 11"x17", LTR, STMT, etc. Landscape-oriented sizes
are indicated by an “R” for rotated.
• Select the [Auto] key if you want to automatically determine the scan size to use. Select the
scan size to match the document size.
IMPORTANT
• If you are scanning documents of different sizes, press the [Auto] key and select [On] for Different Size
Originals.

Resolution
Select the send resolution level for the document from the Resolution drop-down list box.
NOTE
• For fax transmission the recommended resolution levels are 200 x 200 dpi and 200 x 400 dpi.
• I-fax sending is preset to LTR-size documents at 200 dpi x 200 dpi resolution. Any other setting will
adversely affect the image due to I-fax standards.

Exposure
Set the scanning exposure level. For lighter exposure press the [
] key. For darker exposure
press the [
] key. To set the exposure automatically, press the [A] key.
