1. Connect the composite video output of a Video Recorder to the
Signal Input Jack

on a SPF.
2. Connect
the
Signal Output Jack
[star 2]
on the SPF to the
VR C-VID IN [circle 4]
jack on
the AVR rear panel.
3. Connect
the
3.5mm mini-plug pig-tail [star 3]
to the
VR SPF IN [circle 39]
on the AVR rear
panel.
4. If using one SPF, connect the
Power Input [star 5]
to an Audioaccess SPF/PS Power
Supply. If using multiple SPFs, connect the
Power Input [star 5]
to the
Power Pass-
Through [star 6]
on the previous SPF using the included 2.1mm jumper wire.
CABLE/SAT
NOTE 1: Although any type of video source device can be connected to these jacks, the remote
control has the commands for the Cable/Sat inputs set to control a cable set-top box or a satellite
receiver as configured in
MAIN MENU/REMOTE CONTROL SETUP
.
NOTE 2: When connecting a device such as a digital cable box or other set-top tuner product with
a digital audio output, we recommend that you connect both the digital and analog outputs of the
product to your AVR. The audio input polling feature of the AVR will then be able to make certain
that you have a constant audio feed, since it will automatically switch the audio input to the
analog jacks if the digital feed is interrupted or not available for a particular channel.
Audio – Cable/Sat
1. Connect the L&R line level audio outputs of a Cable Box/Satellite Receiver to the
CABLE/SAT L&R AUDIO IN Jacks [circle 6]
on the AVR rear panel.
2. Connect a Coaxial Digital or Optical Digital Out of a Cable Box/Satellite Receiver to one of
the
Coaxial or Optical Digital IN Jacks [circles 19, 24]
on the AVR rear panel, if unused.
(This connection will need to be configured in the
MAIN ROOM/SOURCES
menu.)
Video – Cable/Sat
NOTE 1: It is not necessary to connect both Composite and S-Video. It is necessary to have a
composite video connection to distribute video to the AVH21 Hubs in Multiroom applications. The
Video Source Outputs [circle 37]
(multiroom video out) cannot accept component inputs, nor
are component inputs down-converted for use with these outputs.
NOTE 2: Video will default to the highest quality signal available.
NOTE 3: When a source is connected to the AVR21EN via component video connections, it is
also necessary to connect the composite and/or S-Video outputs of the source device to the
AVR21EN if you wish to take advantage of the record outputs. The record outputs cannot accept
component inputs, nor are component inputs down-converted for use with these outputs.
1. Connect the composite video output of a Cable Box/Satellite Receiver to the
CABLE/SAT C-
VID IN Jack
[circle 6]
on the AVR rear panel.
2. Connect the S-Video output of a Cable Box/Satellite Receiver to the
CABLE/SAT S-VID IN
Jack [circle 6]
on the AVR rear panel.
3. Connect the Component (Y, Pb, Pr) Outputs of a Cable Box/Satellite Receiver to the
CABLE/SAT Component Video
Jacks [circle 13]
on the AVR rear panel.
SPF (Power Management – Optional) – Cable/Sat
NOTE: An SPF (Source Power Flag) should be used on any device that does not have discreet
IR ON/OFF codes. Either composite video
or
Coaxial Digital Audio can be sensed. All SPF
modules can be daisy-chained together for power from a single SPF/PS power supply and must
be powered to work. (See section:
SPF Features
)

1. Connect the composite video output of a Cable Box/Satellite Receiver to one of the
Signal
Input Jacks

on a SPF.
2. Connect
