Video Compensation

UDM-0102 and UDM-RX02 Operation/Reference Guide

Video Compensation

Overview

Video Compensation settings such as brightness, sharpness and color skew can be adjusted on each port, via
options in the

Port Configuration Options

page of the UDM-0102 WebConsole (FIG. 92).

Use these options to compensate (tune) outgoing video signals for optimum picture quality.

Video compensation settings can also be configured at the UDM-RX02 Receivers via the UDM-RC10 Remote
Control (see the

Compensating Video Via the UDM-RC10 Remote

section on page 75).

Default Video Compensation Settings

The default video compensation settings are listed below:

Video Compensation Guidelines

Skew:

AMX recommends that the video compensation is first adjusted to eliminate any skew, using

vertical red / green / blue lines.

Brightness:

Once any skew has been eliminated the video should be adjusted for brightness using a grey

scale or equivalent test card.

Sharpness:

Finally the sharpness of the video should be adjusted eliminating any over or under shoot of

the video. Horizontal black and white bars are one useful method of tuning sharpness.

• Bright: default setting = 30

• Sharp: default setting = 0

• Skew:

default setting = 0 (all colors)

LCD screens have a tendency to automatically try and compensate the video,
presenting issues when adjusting for skew. Using a CRT monitor to adjust video
quality is often the best way around this.
