Select an action to be performed from the Action drop-down menu (FIG. 69).

Enter the serial command (serial string) equivalent for this action in the Serial command text field.

Click Add to create the new protocol.
7.
Repeat as necessary for other serial commands to be stored under this protocol name.
Once complete, the protocol can be assigned to relevant devices, via the Protocol drop-down menu in the
Devices page (see Configuration - Devices Page section on page 39).
Testing Serial Commands
Serial commands can be tested via options in the Status page, before they are added to the protocol library.
1.
On the Status page. click on a Port hyperlink to access the Port Configuration options.
2.
In the Protocol drop-down menu, select Serial to enable the Serial-specific configuration options shown
in FIG. 70.
• Action: Select the action to be performed by this command from this drop-down menu.
• Serial
Command:
Enter the serial string associated with the selected action. The serial string must
be accurate for the serial command to work.
Consult the Manufacturer’s documentation to ascertain the correct string for each
serial device.
• Add: Once an action has been selected and the command has been defined, click Add
to add the Action/Command to this Serial protocol.

The UDM-RX02 can store approximately eight serial commands per device,
depending on the length of the serial string.
The UDM-RX02 Receiver will issue the serial command over the serial cable
connected between the Receiver and the device.
