Creating a New Serial Protocol
The UDM-RX02 Receiver issues serial commands via the serial cable connected between the Receiver and the
device. It is presumed that the serial device connected to the UDM-RX02 has the appropriate serial settings as
described and the correct serial cable/pinouts configured in order to function correctly with the UDM-RX02.

In the Protocols page, open the Serial Protocol drop-down menu, and select New (FIG. 66).
This action invokes several additional fields: Name , Settings and Initialise (FIG. 67):

Name the new protocol appropriately, and select the protocol Settings ( baud rate and parity ) from the
Settings drop-down menus.

The baud rate options are: 1200 , 2400 , 4800 , 9600 , 19200 , 38400 , 57600 , and 115200 .

The parity options are: None , Odd and Even .

Click on Initialize to clear the UDM Receiver of any pre-loaded serial commands, and invoke the
additional options ( Action and Serial Command ) shown in FIG. 68.

• Name: Enter a name for this Serial protocol.
• Settings Use these drop-down menus to specify the Baud Rate and Parity settings for this
Serial protocol.
• Initialize: Click to clear the UDM Receiver of any pre-loaded serial commands, and invoke the
Action and Command fields (see FIG. 68).
