Visual fault locator function

On the

Printer contents

line, select to print either the trace, or the table, or

both trace + table or to make an hardcopy of the screen.

Printing on an external printer

Use the following procedure to print on an external printer:

Display the data you wish to print on the screen.

Press the PRINT key.
The selected copy of the screen is printed on the external printer. The same

header as for the internal printer is printed (see "Header" on page 3-19).

Copying to a file on a floppy disk

You can dump the displayed screen as a graphic file to include it in reports using

many popular desktop publishing software packages.
Use the following procedure to copy to a file on a floppy disk:

Attention

Make sure

FILE

is selected for

PRINTER

in the

SYSTEM SETUP

menu (see "Choice of printer" on page 3-16).

Use the following procedure to copy to a file on a floppy disk:

Press the FILE key and select the Media : Floppy disk, the File naming:

Manual or Auto (see "Filename" on page 8-2), and the file format (see "File

format" on page 8-11).

Display the screen you wish to copy.

Press the PRINT key.
A copy of the screen is saved on the floppy disk in the selected format and

with the selected file name.

Attention

If you create several consecutive files on the same disk you must

enter a new name before each press of print or the same file will be

used and its contents replaced each time. Only the last screen copied

is saved if you do not change or increment the file name each time.

Visual fault locator function

This VFL option available in the OTDR module, allows transmission of a visible

red light (continuous or at 1 Hz) in a fiber, in order to find faults in the OTDR

deadzone or to identify fibers.
When the VFL function is selected in the

Instrument Setup

menu, a softkey

allows the choice between the CW or 1 Hz transmission.
