If a fault is detected, or if a doubt exists, it is advisable to contact the nearest
Wavetek Service Centre which will undertake the appropriate repair work.
Returning an instrument
When returning an instrument, please indicate the following minimum
information:
•
The type and serial number of the instrument
•
A description of the fault found with the instrument.
The returned instrument will then be repaired and calibrated.
Guarantee conditions
Any exchange of boards or sub-assemblies during the instrument’s guarantee
period is carried out at the expense of Wavetek. For any work carried out on a
board or sub-assembly other than by Wavetek Service Centers, the cost of the
replacement board or sub-assembly will be invoiced.
Cleaning
Cleaning the front and rear panels and the covers
The front and rear panels, as well as the covers, can become tarnished with use.
To clean them, use soapy water.
Do not use products with a petroleum spirit, trichloroethylene, benzene or
alcohol base, as they attack the printed markings.
Cleaning the screen
To clean the screen, use anti-static products.
Precautions governing optical connections
•
The normal operating life of an optical connector is usually of the order of a
few hundred manipulations. It is therefore advisable to manipulate the
optical connections as rarely as possible.
•
The instrument is designed to function correctly in a non - hostile
environment, hence the cleanliness of the optical connectors as well as their
delicate manipulation is paramount to the instrument’s measurement
abilities.
•
The optical connector must therefore be clean and dust-free. If the optical
connection is not being used, protect the connections of MTS
e
using the
covers provided.
As an example, the use of connectors that have not been cleaned will represent
an error of the order of 10% for all measurements. This error is added to other
errors present, for example the quality of the fiber (circularity and concentricity),
the means of alignment (axis alignment, distance between fiber faces, quality of
fiber face) and propagation modes.
