Power unit
• Do not reuse a gasket, oil seal, or seal
washer, always replace it with a new
one.
• When the timing belt is not installed, do
not turn the crankshaft or camshafts.
Otherwise, the pistons and valves or
intake and exhaust valves could collide
with each other and be damaged.

Check that the “

” mark
a
on the drive
sprocket is aligned with the mating sur-
face of the crankcase and cylinder block.

Apply a thin, even coat of sealant to the
mating surface of the camshaft caps

and cylinder heads

TIP:
Do not block the oil passages or oil holes with
the sealant.

Install the valve lifters

, and then install
the camshafts

in the
proper positions and new oil seals

TIP:
Install the valve lifters in their original posi-
tions.

Check that the camshaft dowel holes are
in the proper position.
