14.3 Tips & tricks
Sometimes minor user errors can lead to the sloppy appearance of seams or
sewing problems (broken threads, loops, jamming, catching, etc.).
W6 Wertarbeit offers you the following assistance: Please work through this
systematically at your own speed. Stick precisely to the 1–10 order, as each tip
provides the foundation for the next.
14.3.1 Changing the spool
Please take note of the following information to ensure that the thread
unwinds smoothly and properly:
•
Before changing the spool, always cut the upper thread at the height of
the spool cap.
Cutting the upper thread
•
Slowly pull the cut upper thread through the needle.
•
Before inserting a new spool, raise the presser foot so that the thread
channels are open. Operating errors lead to notches in the thread take-up
lever cover. Failure to follow the instructions may also result in the upper
thread jamming for no apparent reason.
•
Fasten the new spool using the spool cap. Take particular care to ensure
that the spool cap is placed firmly on the horizontal spool. To prevent the
thread from blocking or breaking, there must be no space between the
spool and the spool cap.
•
Always pull the upper and lower threads out to the left before starting to
sew. The thread must unwind smoothly and without jamming. You should
always follow this tip when sewing and embroidering.
