Utility stitches

Using a pattern

   CAUTION   

Risk of injury posed by breaking needles

The stitch width must be adjusted to suit the presser foot. If the incorrect stitch 
width is selected, the needle may hit the presser foot and bend or break as a 
result; parts may move uncontrollably.

Always adjust the stitch width to suit the presser foot that is installed.

Carry out the following steps:

➔

Place the edge of the fabric edge next to the overlock/overcasting foot 
guide and start sewing.

We recommend stitch program 025 “Overlock stitch” or program 060
circular stitched OV seam for overlocking

» The seam has been sewn using the overlock foot as a positioning guide 
on the fabric.

programs 030, 031, 033, 042 and 049
Standard foot / Satin stitch foot
Super Stretch 90 or 75 needle

This pattern creates an open seam on pieces of fabric sewn together. The seam 
also lends simple garments an interesting look. If decorative thread is used in the 
form of W6 multicoloured thread for the upper and lower threads, the seam has a 
hand-sewn appearance
