The regions can be set by size (for each dimension) from 1 to 200 miles. The
maximum distance from the region to the current position is 500 miles.
Regions cannot overlap each other. If a region is entered which overlaps the
previously set region, the new region is saves.
To delete a region, press the “Del Rgn” button and the “Yes” button when prompted
to confirm the deleting.
The AIS shall not accept, i.e. ignore, any new regional operating setting which
includes a regional operating area, which does not conform to the rules for regional
operating areas laid out in M.1371-1 A2/4.1.
The AIS shall not accept a new regional operating setting, which was input to it via
the Presentation Interface, if the regional operating area of this new regional
operating setting partly or totally overlaps or matches the regional operating area of
any of the stored regional operating settings, which were received from a Base
Station either by msg 22 within the last two hours.

214 TEST FUNCTIONS
6.11.1
Serial ports diagnostic
The check the correctness of internal serial port parameters (e.g. Int.GNSS, Sensor
or RTCM) open Configuration->Diagnostics->Ports menu. Select the port and press
Watch button: terminal window will display the data coming from the selected port.
For the detailed viewing of sentences received via the port, use the “Stop” button.
6.11.2
Monitoring of position data source
Position data can be checked via the ”Sensor data” menu. Here the data taken from
the highest priority source (as described under “Navigational data sources setup”) is
displayed. In addition, the two last lines show the reporting rate (Rep. rate) and an
indication of whether the AIS Base Station has taken over the semaphore function
(i.e., synchronising with other AIS which do not have own synchronising from the
UTC) (We are semaphore).
The Sensor data->ChkSrc menu allows monitoring of individual navigational data
sources: there is a list of numbers of virtual data sources (see ”Navigational data
sources setup”) which currently provide a stable data flow. The source selected for
use is marked with the ”!” sign.
