INPUT OF REGIONAL SETTINGS
In each area, numbers of VHF channels are set by the Administration. Beyond the
regions, the AIS equipment uses channels 2087 (AIS1) and 2088 (AIS2) with a
bandwidth of 25 kHz and power of 12.5 W. As a mobile object is approaching the
region, the AIS mobile equipment receives numbers of TDMA VHF channels in one
of the following ways:
•
from the coastal AIS equipment;
•
from the coastal DSC equipment (where the AIS and DSC are used jointly in
the area);
•
from the AIS administrator by manual input (backup method).
One of the main functions of the AIS Base Station is to transmit information on the
channels which the AIS operates on in the particular area.
The list of assigned regional settings can be viewed in the Configuration-
>AIS regions menu.
AIS Base StationT214 allows up to eights areas to be determined where the AIS

the Configuration->AIS regions->NewRgn menu.
