(18) Witness mark each of the screws and the lock blocks as shown in Figure 34.
NOTE: Witness marks must be applied to easily determine if any movement has occurred
during operation. If movement has occurred, a hard stop adjustment should be
carried out.
(19) Reinstall the lower fairing in accordance with Chapter 5, C.

WARNING: SETTINGS NEED TO BE CAREFULLY DETERMINED FOR PERSONNEL AND
AIRCRAFT SAFETY.
CAUTION:
IF THE MAXIMUM UP SETTING IS TO BE MADE LESS THAN
−
3°, THE DOWN
SETTING WILL HAVE TO BE CHANGED IAW CHAPTER 4, SECTION G.
Where personnel safety and/or possible aircraft damage are a major consideration, careful positioning of the
mechanical hard stop will provide an absolute cessation of movement of the searchlight but will—because of
software limitations—also cause the searchlight to stop movement some distance before reaching the hard
(1) Safety
(a) When safety is the main issue, position the lamp at the point where no more movement is to
be physically allowed.
(b) Set the mechanical hard stop to be in contact with the hard stop travel nut as instructed in the
relevant azimuth and/or elevation setup instructions.
(c) Lamp travel will now be reduced by approximately 9° in elevation as shown in Chapter 4, K,
(2) Envelope
(a) When the envelope setup is the issue, the lamp should be positioned past the actual required
position so that when the hard stop is brought into contact with the hard stop travel nut and
an initialisation is carried out, the lamp will then be made to stop at the required, earlier
position.
CAUTION:
THE TRAVEL LIMIT POSITIONS FOR ELEVATION ARE DETERMINED BY
THE POSITIONING OF THE MECHANICAL HARD STOPS DURING
SETUP.
NOTE: For first delivery, the travel hard stop positions are set to 190° at the factory
prior to delivery but may be changed, if required, using the following
procedure. Minimum and maximum values of Table 19 have to be considered.
(3) Turn aircraft power ON.
