F. Elevation Motor Planet Assembly Removal and Installation.
(1) Removing the motor planet assembly.
(a) Remove the leg hatch assembly (Figure 51, item 1) in accordance with Chapter 5, D.
(b) Disconnect the Molex electrical connector (Figure 51, item 2a).
(c) Remove the electrical bonding leads (Figure 51, item 8) from the motor assembly.
(d) Remove the four socket head cap screws (Figure 51, item 3) (109073) using a long 3 mm
ballpoint allen key (127096).
CAUTION:
DO NOT ALLOW THE MOTOR OR BOTTOM SECTION OF THE
COUPLING (Figure 51, ITEM 4) TO ROTATE DURING OR AFTER
REMOVAL OF THE MOTOR PLANET ASSEMBLY (ITEM 2).
(e) Remove the elevation motor planet assembly (Figure 51, item 2) (034028) while ensuring that
the plastic coupling insert (item 5) remains in the bottom section of the motor coupling
(item 4).

(2) Installing the motor planet assembly.
(a) Reinstall the elevation motor planet assembly (Figure 51, item 2) to the top of the gear
housing.
(b) Apply Loctite 243 to the four socket head cap screws (Figure 51, item 3), insert them through
the hard stop mount (item 7) and torque to 3.0 ± 0.1 Nm.
(c) Reconnect the electrical bonding leads to the motor assembly (Figure 51, item 8).
(d) Reconnect the Molex electrical connector (item 2a).
(e) Carry out a hard stop setup in accordance with Chapter 4, F.
(f) Apply a small amount of a suitable non-metallic, anti-seize grease to the hard stop drive shaft
to prevent galling during operation.
NOTE: The amount of grease applied should be sufficient to provide a very light
coating along the length of the shaft but not enough to attract dust/dirt.
(g) Refit the leg hatch assembly in accordance with Chapter 5, D.
NOTE: Changing the position of the limit switches will require the STOW and
DEPLOY positions to be reset in accordance with Chapter 4, J.
