H. Full Initialisation of the System
CAUTION:
FULL INITIALISATION (FULL POST) OF THE SEARCHLIGHT SHOULD NOT BE
CARRIED OUT AT AIR SPEEDS GREATER THAN 40 KNOTS.
CAUTION:
IF THE SEARCHLIGHT WAS NOT STOWED PRIOR TO POWER BEING TURNED
OFF AT THE LAST SYSTEM OPERATION, A FULL INITIALISATION WILL BE
CARRIED OUT AT THE NEXT POWER ON.
(1) Full initialisation of the system programs the system software so that in operation, the searchlight
travel in both azimuth and elevation is stopped by the software before the searchlight reaches the
hard stop limits.
NOTE: Ensure the hard stops have been set to the required azimuth and elevation travel
limits.
(a) Turn POWER ON.
(b) Providing the searchlight has not been previously stowed, the system will carry out a full
initialisation by driving to the limit switches of azimuth clockwise and counter clockwise while
at the same time driving to the travel limits of elevation UP and DOWN. This operation will
take approximately 60 seconds.
NOTE: The searchlight will drive itself to the limit switch positions in order to
“learn” where the positions are and be able to set up the soft stop limits.
NOTE: If the limit switch positions have been changed, there will be a need to alter
the STOW and DEPLOY positions before turning the power OFF. Refer to
(c) Turn power OFF.
(d) Turn power ON and the searchlight will conduct a short POST. This happens each time the
system is turned ON.
NOTE: A short POST checks the filter wheel initialisation and zoom moves to the
narrow angle. This takes approximately 12 seconds to complete. Refer to
