WARNING: ENSURE ALL PERSONNEL ARE CLEAR OF THE FRONT OF THE
SEARCHLIGHT AND THAT THEY ARE WEARING SAFETY GLASSES
THAT COMPLY WITH AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS AS/NZS 1337 AND
1338 OR SIMILAR OVERSEAS STANDARDS FOR OCULAR AND
IMPACT PROTECTION.
WARNING: ENSURE THAT ALL TOOLS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF
THE SEARCHLIGHT BEFORE OPERATING.
(o) Turn the searchlight ON and allow it to complete the full POST process.
NOTE: This operation may be carried out using either a Grip Hand Controller or TCP.
For full instructions on their use refer to the Function Test (Chapter 5,
Sect. R).
(p) Press the DEPLOY switch on the system controller.
(q) Move the joystick to position the searchlight to a safe direction.
(r) Arm the system (TCP only) by selecting ARM on the SYS switch.
(s) Operate the Lamp Start switch to ON.
(t) Move the lamp ZOOM switch between narrow and wide focus.
(u) Operate the filter selection to ensure it is working correctly.
NOTE: The lamp generates a great deal of heat during operation and needs to cool
down safely.
CAUTION:
DO NOT TURN OFF THE SYSTEM POWER SWITCH IMMEDIATELY
AFTER TURNING OFF THE LAMP.
THE COOLING FAN NEEDS TO OPERATE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO
MINUTES AND WILL THEN AUTOMATICALLY SHUT ITSELF DOWN.
THE SYSTEM MAY THEN BE TURNED OFF.
(v) Turn off power to the lamp.
(w) Turn off the ARM function by moving the SYS switch from ARM to ON.
(x) Verify that the searchlight travels to:
i.
the set azimuth and elevation positions, and
ii. the correct STOW and DEPLOY positions.
(y) When the cooling fan has shut down, turn OFF power to the system.
