G. Changing the Elevation DOWN Hard Stop
CAUTION:
CHANGING THE DOWN TRAVEL SETTING WITH THE FOLLOWING
PROCEDURE WILL CHANGE THE UP ELEVATION SETTING WHICH COULD
RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM IF THE ELEVATION OF +44
°
HAS
BEEN SET.
THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO DETECT AN OVER CURRENT
CONDITION IF THE SEARCHLIGHT MAKES CONTACT WITH THE FAIRING
ASSEMBLY AND WILL STOP OPERATION OF THE ELEVATION MOTOR.
NOTE: If the DOWN travel limit setting is to be reduced, the UP travel limit setting must
FIRST be reduced by the same or greater amount.
NOTE: For first delivery, the travel hard stop positions are set to -105° at the factory prior
to delivery but may be changed, if required, using the following procedure.
Minimum and maximum values of Table 19 have to be considered.
NOTE: The change to the UP elevation setting inherent in this procedure has also been
addressed in the following instructions and should not be confused with the
standard adjustment instructions given in Section F of this Chapter.
(1) Use the controller to drive the searchlight to the required position.
NOTE: Do not STOW the searchlight.
(2) Turn power OFF.
(3) Remove the dynamic leg hatch (Figure 39, item 1) in accordance with Chapter 5, D.
