C. Fairing Assembly Removal and Installation
CAUTION:
DESTRUCTION OF THE FAIRING DUE TO AERODYNAMIC LOADS AND/OR
AIRCRAFT VIBRATION MAY RESULT IF THE TWO SECTIONS OF THE FAIRING
ARE NOT ASSEMBLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING
INSTRUCTIONS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LIFT THE SEARCHLIGHT BY MEANS OF THE FAIRING ASSEMBLY
(Figure 23). DAMAGE TO, OR UNLOCKING OF, THE TWO SECTIONS OF THE
FAIRING MAY RESULT.
(1) Removing the fairing assembly.
(a) Remove the three fairing retaining screws (Figure 47) (109147).
(b) Remove the lower fairing by slightly pulling down and back (Figure 47).

(2) Installing the lower fairing.
(a) The fairing assembly utilises a tongue and groove locking method (Figure 48) to hold the two
sections together at the front end of the assembly. Three screws (Figure 48) are used to
secure the rear edge of the two sections.
(b) Assemble the two sections of the fairing assembly in the following manner.
i.
Engage the tongue and groove (Figure 48).
ii. Using moderate pressure, press the two sections together until there is no more
movement.
iii. Place the two rear areas together and fasten with the three retaining screws (Figure 48).
Torque the screws to 1.0 ± 0.1 Nm.
