BASIC SAFETY SYSTEM CHECKS
a)
Lock Operation – Apply pressure to the door over full length of travel to ensure it does
not unlock
b) Emergency Release x 4 – Lift off the floor check key releases lock / Ensure door
pushes fully open / Ensure key does not jam / Check no operation of lift
c) Beak Secure – Check tightness of beak and bracket
d) Call Station Operation
1. Ensure all 3 call stations work correctly
2. Stop buttons
3. Remote on/off fob operation
e) Safe edges – For all safe edge checks the following MUST be checked. Ensure that
the lift Stops, Rides away from obstruction, Correct LED goes out and No sticking
edges.

g) Underpan safe edge override (9mm pad)
h) Trapdoor down safe edge override (20mm bar)
i) Door cable conditions – With the door actuator side panel removed, disconnect the
door connecting rod from the detent cassette and power the actuator motor to the closed
position. Close the door latch and send the lift up approximately 150mm and stop. Open
and close the door manually ensuring that no LED’s flicker, at the same time checking
that there is no damage to the two multi-core door cables.
j) Wall anchorages – Check tightness of wall / ceiling fixings at both levels
k) Battery backup – With lift at the top turn the mains off and check the lift descends fully
(turn on again after)
Engineer:
I certify that on I thoroughly examined this lift and all the above items have
been checked and are satisfactory. If the lift fails any basic safety system checks it must be
taken out of service immediately.
