VX1410 IntelliFrame Instruction Manual
Removal and Replacement
The following procedures describe how to remove and replace module-level
components of the VX1410 IntelliFrame. Refer to the exploded view illustra-
tions in Replaceable Parts for an overview of the assembly and disassembly of
the mainframe.
WARNING.
To avoid electric shock, always power off the mainframe and
disconnect the power cord before cleaning or servicing the mainframe.
The following tools are required to disassemble the VX1410 IntelliFrame to the
module level:

Small flat blade screwdriver
H
Diagonal cutters (for removing cable ties)
H
Torx screw driver with a T-15 and T-20 tip.
H
A 3/32-inch Allen wrench (hex wrench)
To remove the fan assembly, refer to Figure 7–3 and Figure 7–4 while perform-
ing the following steps:
1. From the back of the mainframe, remove the four 8-32 screws using a
3/32-inch Allen wrench (refer to Figure 7–2 for the screw locations).
2. Remove the Safety Ground screw and the Chassis Ground screw using a
T-20 tip (if installed).
3. Gently pivot the fan assembly outward from the mainframe far enough to
access the fan cables on the right side of the mainframe.
4. Unplug the fan cables and set the fan assembly aside on a clean working
surface.
5. Remove the fan filter from the fan assembly if you need to replace one of
the fans.
6. To remove the two fans, remove the three 6-32 screws (with a T-15 driver)
holding each fan to the inside of the fan assembly as shown in Figure 7–4.
7. Remove the cable tie holding the fan cables to the fan.
