8.15.12 Check automatic slack adjuster
1. Remove the rubber cap.
2. Use a ring wrench to turn the adjusting
screw (arrow) back counterclockwise by
about three quarters of a turn.
At a lever length of 150 mm, the minimum
free travel must be 50 mm.
3. Manually actuate the brake lever several
times. The automatic readjustment must
be easy.
The gear coupling must audibly engage
and the adjusting screw slightly turns
clockwise during the return stroke.
4. Retighten the adjusting screw.
5. Reinstall the rubber cap and lubricate with
long-life grease.
