Determining Lift Capacity of the PC094
Using the Boom Angle Indicator
Installed one each side of Boom Section One of the PC094 is the Boom Angle Indicator. The
Boom Angle Indicator is a manual lift planning aid that the operator uses to calculate the
PC094
’
s boom angle and working radius.
The Boom Angle Indicator is composed of two parts, the Boom Angle Chart, shown here, and
a small steel needle suspended from a swivel above the chart, this is the Boom Angle Indica-
tor. As the boom is raised and lowered, the chart which is line
-
up with the long axis of boom,
will rotate while the Boom Angle Indicator will swing from its swivel and always points
down.
When the boom is maneuvered to the desired boom angle, the operator looks at the bottom
row of number on the Boom Angle Chart (the boom angle values) and determines which
boom angle the indicator is pointing to learn the PC094
’
s boom angle.
Leaving the boom in
-
position, the operator only needs to follow the indicator UP to the Boom
Stage Row that corresponds with the PC094
’
s actual boom stage. The number value in the
row that the Boom Angle Indicator is passing through is the Working Radius (in feet).
