Determining Lift Capacity of the PC094
Determine the Boom Stage for the PC094
The boom of the PC094 is composed four telescoping sections. Boom Section One is the larg-
est section and it connects to the turret of the PC094 at the Hinge Pin and Lift Cylinder. Sec-
tion Two nests inside of Section One until it is telescoped out. Section Three nests inside of
Section Two and Four nests inside of Three.
Boom Stage is a way of expressing the boom
’
s overall length by counting the boom sections
that have been extended. By using Boom Stages, the PC094 Operator does not need to know
the exact length of the boom for calculating the PC094
’
s Rated Load Capacity, they only need
to know how many sections have been extended. Extended simply means that the boom sec-
tion is no longer nested inside of the larger boom section; if even an inch of the Boom Section
is extended, then the boom is advanced to the next Stage:
•
In Stage 1, the boom is fully retracted and only Section One is visible.
•
In Stage 2, the boom has been extended so that Section Two is visible. Even if the
boom has only been extended by an inch, the boom is in Stage 2.
•
Once Section Two is fully extended, Sections Three and Four will begin to extend
together. If you can see the exposed sides of Sections Three and Four, the boom is
in Stage 3.
•
If you continue to extend the boom, a white hash mark that has been painted on
either side of Section Three will become visible. When you see the Stage 4 Hash
Mark, the boom is in Stage 4.
