General settings for calibration and validation
Setting the measuring duration
The measuring duration has an effect on manual calibrations and determines how long the
measured values of a connected calibration gas are determined. As a rule of thumb: the
longer the measuring duration, the more accurate the calibration. The measuring duration
commences in each case following a calibration gas purging time. The mean value of the
measured values is:
●
With calibrations: the actual value for the calibration.
●
With validation measurements: the measured value of the validation measurement.
Criteria for the setting:
●
Adaptation to the damping: the measuring duration must be at least 150 to 200% of the
set damping time constant (see section Adjusting the damping (Page 136)).
●
Adaptation to the measuring response: the measuring duration must be large enough
such that generation of the mean value completely compensates variations in measured
value and any noise in the measured values.
CAUTION
Risk of incorrect calibrations
If the measuring duration is too short, the calibrations will be inexact.
•
In case of doubt, you should rather select the measuring duration to be too long and not
too short.
