OmniSeed™ Viper Pro™ Installation & Operation Manual
Meter Cal(s)
Note:
The meter cal is required when the corresponding product node or control channel will be
controlling seed application rates or application of a liquid product. When operating the Viper Pro
with a dry or granular product applicator, a spreader constant and product density value will be
required to control application. Refer to the Raven Viper Pro Installation and Operation Manual for
more information on controlling dry or granular product applications.
1.
Touch within the
Product Control
area at the bottom of the main screen.
2.
Make sure that
Node 1
is selected on the CAN Controller Status screen and touch within the second data
display area, or the Product Control Settings area, on the CAN Controller Status screen.
3.
Touch the meter cal value displayed on the screen and use the on-screen keypad to enter the number of
counts detected by the sensor per revolution of the metering roller. The meter cal value for liquid products
will be found on the flow meter connected to the selected product node or control channel.
Note:
When operating with the Raven hydraulic drive system in a direct drive configuration, use a meter
cal value of 60. For systems with a high or low rate kit installed with a dual sprocket setup, multiply
the normal meter cal value by the number of teeth on the meter shaft and then divide by the
number of teeth on the sprocket connected directly to the hydraulic motor to determine the
appropriate meter cal value.
4.
Repeat the above process for any remaining nodes or product control channels as necessary.
5.
Touch
OK
to save the entered value or proceed to the
section on page 48 to continue with the
initial set up process.
Cal Weight
The cal weight value sets the weight of product applied per revolution of the metering roller. The Viper Pro may
be used to help calculate the cal weight value by using the cal weight calibration assistance feature while
performing a catch test.
Note:
Make sure the metering roller is full of product before beginning the calibration. If the roller is not
full, the test results will be inaccurate.
The cal weight calibration assistance may also be performed using the remote tank console. Refer
to Chapter 9, Remote Calibration Console, to perform the cal weight calibration assistance
process using the remote tank console.
Priming the Metering Rollers
1.
Set the switch box as follows:
a.
Toggle one section assigned to the product being primed to the on position.
b.
Toggle the remaining section switches to the off position.
c.
Master switch off.
d.
Product 1 switch in manual.
e.
Product 2-5 switches off.
2.
Verify that the weight box is in place and that no product will be spilled on the ground.
