3.2 Electromagnetic Radiation Hazards and Precautions
!CAUTION!
Always remove power to the system prior to any servicing that involves removing a hatch or
cover plate. Shut off all RF signal transmitters connected to the system before trying any system
service or repairs.
!WARNING!
A control circuit failure could cause operation of the positioner with the antenna control unit
turned off. To stop positioner operation under this condition, immediately disconnect the AC input
power to the Servo Amplifier unit.
3.3 Operational Safety Summary
3.4 Maintenance Operations Safety Summary
The following procedures must be observed during maintenance in order to ensure personal safety:
!WARNING!
Disconnect power to the positioner mounted or remote located Servo Amplifier, assembly, and the
Antenna Control Unit before removing or installing components.
3.5 Hazardous Components
There are no hazardous components in the antenna system, however, high voltage AC is present at the positioner
heater assemblies and in the feed assembly. High Voltage AC is also present within the Servo Amplifier Assembly,
when in operation or when the servo is first connected to an external power source. The system itself can be
hazardous during operation, so warning lights and/or buzzers should be obeyed.
3.6 Safety Summary
The following are general safety precautions. They are recommended precautions that personnel must understand
and apply during many phases of operation and maintenance.
!WARNING!
Keep Away from Active Circuits!
Dangerous AC Voltages May Be Present!
Operating personnel must always observe safety regulations. Do not replace components or
attempt adjustments inside the equipment with the primary power turned on. Under certain
conditions, potential dangers may exist when the power control is in the OFF position, due to
charges retained by capacitors. To avoid potential injuries, always remove power, and discharge
and ground a circuit before touching it. When in doubt, contact a Quasonix factory representative
before opening any system access hatches or covers.
