Use a razor plane and/or 80 grit
sandpaper to shape the LE.
10. Re-install the hinges and
temporarily mount the flap in position.
Take the 1/8” ply servo plate and use
CA or epoxy to glue it into the servo
cavity.
Note that it is not square in the cavity
rather it is positioned so that the servo’s
arm travel can be perpendicular to the
wing’s TE.
11. Mount the flap servo to 3/8” x ¾”
basswood using the hardware that came
with your servo. Note that you will need
to cut a notch in one side to clear the
servo wires.
12. Position the servo on the ply plate
and ensure that it is positioned so the
servo arm is perpendicular to the TE of
the wing. Drill a 1/8” hole through the
basswood servo mount and through the
ply plate. Remove the servo from the
wing and enlarge the holes in the
basswood to 9/64”. Use two #8 x 1 ¼”
screws to attach the servo mount to the
plate.
Once secured to the plate, draw lines on
the LE of the flap in line with the servo
arm.
