25. Make sure the CBT skin’s TE
overlaps the rudder’s TE closely and
looks correct - once glued, it will be hard
to correct any misalignment. The CBT’s
LE, however, can be further sanded
after it is glued to get the gap between
its lower edge and the fin just right.
Apply CA to the rudder side skins where
it mates with the CBT skin. Hold the
CBT in place until cured while ensuring
its TE is correct and the LE sits at or
slightly below the top of the fin. Remove
the rudder from the fin and place CA on
the top of the foam CBT and press it into
the skin. Reinstall the rudder and check
the CBT clearance with the fin by
moving the rudder back and forth.
Trim/sand as needed.
Fitting the Cowl to the Fuse
1. First, you will trim the aft edge of the
cowl. It is helpful to mark the cut line
with a pen before starting to cut – just
follow the molded aft line.
Also ensure that the nose gear doors
are outlined per the diagram below. The
cowl has some of the gear door panel
lines that can be used as a guide but the
aft end of the left and right doors are not
marked so use the noted measurements
as a guide.
Note:
The cowl used in these photos is
a prototype cowl. Production cowls will
differ in appearance. It will be
necessary to sand down the mold
section seam lines and use filler (like
