attached onto the engine plate and
adjust its position so that the following
are achieved:
Note: Engines other than the Revolution
50 may require modifications to the cowl
to clear the engine and/or its muffler.
a. The prop shaft and spinner back plate
are centered relative to the cowls (you
may need to grind away some of the
hidden scale exhaust stack to clear the
muffler’s pipe).
b. The cylinder head and muffler do not
touch the nose wheel retract unit or the
steering arm. The cowl is removed in
the photo below to help illustrate the
desired separation.
c. The muffler does not touch the cowl
or balsa blocks (note how the rear balsa
block required modification for clearance
– the upper cowl’s block may need to be
trimmed as well).
d. Trace the engine mount’s outline
once you are satisfied with the engine’s
orientation. The cowl’s large air intake
will provide enough cooling air even if
the cylinder head is not perfectly in the
middle of the intake.
9. Because there are many engine
options available and each comes with
its own mounting bolts, you will need to
provide the hardware to secure your
engine to the mounting plate. Drill holes
for T-nuts, anchor nuts, etc. and secure
them to the back of the mounting plate.
Below, we used T-nuts with brad holes
and #2 servo screws – not provided.
We found these T-nuts at a Big Tool
Box Hardware store (associated with
Ace® Hardware).
