you have their orientation correct. Drill
pilot holes for #1 screws. If, desired you
could glue a balsa backer to the hatch
skin to give it more rigidity.
Navigation Light Lens and
Shield
1. Rough trim the navigation lens near
its TE as shown below.
2. Place it over the wing tip skin and
draw rough trim lines as shown. Note
how the line extends beyond the inboard
edge of the wing tip skin. With this
rough trim cut you are trying to remove
material so you can better conform the
lens to the tip skin.
3. Reposition the lens after trimming
and tape it tightly against the wing tip so
that its contour best fits the tip. Draw
finish trim lines, one even with the
inboard edge of the wing tip skin and the
other perpendicular to it just behind
where the tip skin is notched for the
lights. Trim along these lines.
4. Tape the lens tightly in place. Drill
pilot holes for #1 screws as shown on
the bottom and just one screw on the
top side located at the rear corner.
5. Cut out the strobe light shield
template below. Match its bottom
curvature over the molded shield part
near its edge. Trace its outline then
draw a line about 1/8” down from the
corner.
