3. Draw some reference marks 4 7/8”
behind the aft edge of the ¼” wide tape.
Cut a strip of tape 5/8” wide and locate
its forward edge along these reference
marks. Cut tape 3/8” wide and place it
along the lower edge of the canopy.
4. Make a reference mark 5 ¼” forward
of the LE of the front canopy’s rear
frame (the 3/8” wide strip).
Extend a line, perpendicular to the
canopy’s lower edge, 1 ½” long at the
reference mark. Place a ¼” strip of tape
forward of that line and then begin to
bend the tape forward (above the 1 ½”
mark) as you approach the top. Follow
that strip with one 3/8” wide placed
slightly in front of it as shown above.
Below is the look that you are
replicating. The windscreen’s bent
frame angle is often missed by Mentor
models and 3-views.
5. Draw the outline of the frame areas
around where the two left side canopy
handles go – draw the radii at all
applicable corners of the canopy frame.
Also make a vertical line midway
between the back canopy’s frame as
shown.
6. There is a separate molded piece of
the canopy that forms a recessed
channel at the lower edge of the middle
canopy section.
