Custom Setting #F10 Reverse the Manual Metering Bar
(Reverse indicators)
After years of complaints from users of other cameras
switching to Nikon, Nikon has provided a way to make the
orientation of the manual metering bar go from low to high
(instead of the usual high to low).

the N8008 and F4 [default]

Recommendations:
1. Since the D300 is a pro camera, let’s make sure you know
the reason
why
Nikon’s metering bars seem the opposite
of everyone elses: they reflect the direction you should
turn the aperture ring on the lens to correct the exposure
problem you’re seeing. Turning a Nikkor lens aperture
ring to the right (from the back of the camera) provides
less exposure, so if you saw a + exposure value, you’d be
turning the lens ring that direction.
2. If you use AI and AI-S Nikkor lenses on your camera and
set apertures with the aperture ring, leave this setting
alone! If you use only Nikkors without aperture rings, set
it whichever way you’d like.
