24.3 Resolving Device Conflicts

 

If you connect an additional unit with the same name as one of the already connected unit(s),

a warning dialog will inform you about the device (name) conflict:

This message will appear if you connect at least two units of the same type without having renamed your devices before-
hand.

Please follow the instructions in the dialog: unplug the additional device, rename the original
devices as described above and then connect the new unit again.
When selecting a name that is already occupied by another unit of the same type, the Control-
ler Editor asks to swap the device name between the device you want to rename and the one
that is currently assigned to the selected name. Should the selected name be used by a device
that is currently not connected or the name is not used by another device at all, the chosen
name is assigned to the selected controller. If a device name is currently in use, i.e. the device
is connected, this is reflected by a leading dot (

•

) in front of the device name for visual dis-

tinction. To rename a controller, repeat the actions described above.
