Solution: Ensure that the network modes of the two negotiation
parties are the same. If the dead time intervals are different, in
the interface configuration mode, use the following command to
change the dead time interval at the two ends into the same
values:
ip ospf dead-interval

How to find out the cause:
Use the show ip ospf neighbor command and no neighbors are
found for a long time.
Open the debug ip ospf packet hello to print the following error
information: OSPF RECV Area 0.0.0.0 172.160.3.4 ->
224.0.0.5: HELLO: Invalid Area ID 0.0.0.0;
Use the show ip ospf interface command to check whether the
areas of the two interfaces are the same. (you can also use the
show run command)
Interface: 172.160.3.9 (vlan500) Area 1 Process ID:
65535
Solution: in the interface configuration mode, use the following
commands to change the configurations:
Use network A.B.C.D[Network number] A.B.C.D[OSPF
wildcard bits is the reversal mask] area Area –number command
to re-configure the OSPF area of the interface.

The ip ospf network
non-broadcast
command is
configured at the
interface, but no
neighbor is
configured in the
OSPF.
How to find out the cause:
Use the show ip ospf neighbor command and no neighbors are
found for a long time.
Open the debug ip ospf packet hello. Find that the packets are
sent but not received.
For the NBMA, you should configure neighbor route switching
devices.
Solution: in the OSPF mode, configure the OSPF neighbor.

The network mask of
the two interfaces are
different
How to find out the cause:
Use the show ip ospf neighbor command and no neighbors are
found for a long time.
Open the debug ip ospf packet hello to print the following error
information: OSPF RECV Area 0.0.0.0 172.160.3.4 ->
224.0.0.5: HELLO: NetworkMask mismatch;
Use the show run command to check whether the configurations
of the network masks are the same.
Solution: Set the network masks to the same.
Note: in the point to point and point to multi-point network
modes, the network mask is easy to be ignored, namely, when
the network masks are different, the neighbor relation can be
created and the routes can be learned.

The area types of the
negotiation interfaces
are not matched
How to find out the cause:
Use the show ip ospf neighbor command and no neighbors are
found for a long time.
Open the debug ip ospf packet hello to print the following error
information: OSPF RECV Area 0.0.0.0 172.160.3.4 ->
224.0.0.5: HELLO: Options mismatch;
Use the show run command to check the OSPF configuration of
the two negotiation parties to ensure that the OSPF area types
are matched:
OSPF area: STUB, NSSA, common OSPF area
Solution: If the configuration of the opposite end is stub area,
the local configuration should be stub area; if the opposite
configuration is NSSA area, the local configuration should be
NSSA area; if the opposite configuration is common OSPF area,
the local configuration should be common OSPF area.
