Possible Reasons
Judging Methods and Solutions
1. The mode of the port is
not PVLAN
When the port mode is access, trunk, or hybrid, you cannot
configure the port to a PVLAN. Use the show command to check
the configuration of the port is PVLAN mode.
2. The port mode is
promiscuous, but the
configuration is to access
secondary vlan
When the port mode is promiscuous, it can be set to the
primary vlan only. If it is added to the secondary vlan, a fault is
encountered.
3. The port mode is host,
but the accessed vlan is the
primary vlan
If the port is in PVLAN mode, but it is the host port, the port can
be added to the secondary vlan only. You cannot add it to the
primary vlan.
4. The port belongs to a
PVLAN
The PVLAN port belongs to only one PVLAN.
Fault 2: The data forwarding of the ports belonging to the same PVLAN
domain is

1. The configured
interrelated primary vlan
and secondary vlan are not
in the same MSTP instance
If the MSTP function is enabled when the PVLAN is used, ensure
that the interrelated primary vlan and secondary vlan are in the
same MSTP instance. Use the show spanning-tree mst
command to check whether the configuration of the vlan in the
instance is correct.
2. The two ports sending
data mutually are in the
isolated vlan of PVLAN
Use the show private vlan command to check the configuration.
Check whether the two ports sending data are in the same
isolated vlan. The two ports are isolated in the isolated vlan.
The two ports cannot forward data. If you want to forward data
through the two ports, the configuration should be modified.
Fault 3: The old configuration of the port is lost after the port mode is
modifi
ed

The old configuration is in
conflict with the PVLAN
configuration
Use the show run port command to check the configuration of
the port. The configuration of PVLAN is in conflict with UNI type,
QinQ, port isolation, and 802.1X (for details, see the
configuration manual). In the process of configuration, the
configuration is conflict will be removed.
