The switch configured
with external routes
summary is not the
switch redistributing
the external routes.
How to find out the cause:
Check the network topology. Ensure that the switch has
redistributed the external routes.
Solution:
Summarize the external routes on the switch redistributing the
external routes.
The switch configured
with internal routes
summary is not the
switch producing the
routes.
How to find out the cause:
Check the ISIS database. Check whether the switch is the source
switch of the summarized routes.
Solution:
Summarize the internal routes on the source switch of the
summarized route.
The level attributes of
the route summary are
not matched.
How to find out the cause:
Check the IS-IS database and run the show run command to check
the level attributes and the summarized level attributes are
matched.
Solution:
Change the summarized level attribute and ensure that it is
consistent with the level attribute of the switch.
Failed to set metric-
type external (1)
How to find out the cause:
Run the show isis database detail command to check whether the
summary route has the Extended tag. Run the show run router isis
command to check whether the metric mode is wide.
Solution:
If the metric mode of the switch is wide, do not forcibly use the
parameter metric-type external. If you want to use the parameter,
you have to change the metric modes of all switches to narrow.
Otherwise, the database may be unsynchronized and thus the routes
cannot be learned.
Failed to set metric-
type external (2)
How to find out the cause:
Run the show run router isis command to check whether the
summary parameter route-type external is configured.
Solution:
Before you set the summarized external metric, set the route type of
the summarized route to be external, namely route-type external.
On the switch summarizing the routes, set the summarize the route-
type external, and then, set the metric-type external.
