It is the fault of the
line connection. It is
likely to have the port
connection error. No
loop is formed in the
network.
Check whether the cable of each port is correct according to the
network topology view and whether the ports those are connected
with cables can become up normally.
Do not execute the
spanning-tree
enable command on
the device and
spanning-tree does not
run in mstp mode.
Use the show running-config command to check whether
spanning-tree is enabled on the tree and runs in mstp mode.
Execute the show spanning-tree mst command. If spanning-tree
is not enabled, execute the show spanning-tree mst command,
and the information No mst information available is printed; if
spanning-tree does not run in mstp mode, execute the show
spanning-tree mst command, only the instance 0 information is
printed.
In MSTP configuration
mode, do not input
active configuration
pending to activate
the configuration.
Execute the show running-config command to check whether the
MSTP configuration is activated; if not, the MSTP configuration in
show running-config is unavailable.
The configured
pathcost algorithms in
the whole MSTA
domain are different
and the port role error
may appear.
Use the show running-config command to check whether the
configured pathcost algorithms are the same.
Fault 2: The MSTP line switches and the recovery time is too long.
Possible Reasons
Judging Methods and Solutions
The MSTP line does
not run in the MSTP
mode, but in the STP
mode.
Execute the Show running-config command to confirm whether
the MSTP line runs in the MSTP mode. If not, execute the show
spanning-tree mst command and only the instance 0 information
is printed.
In the MSTP network,
some lines may work
in the half-duplex
mode.
Execute the show port xx command to conform whether there is
the port in the network that is in the half state. The port in half state
does not recover to forwarding very quickly when the spanning tree
role changes.
Fault 3: When Maipu switch is connected to Cisco switch, the two
switches cannot take part in the MSTP calculation.
