Attention:
When inserting the I/O tray, do not hit any of the I/O tray connectors against the edge of the
chassis.
Step 1. Align the I/O tray with its opening in the rear of the chassis and insert. Position the tray toward the
right side of the opening during insertion.
Step 2. Fully open the I/O tray release levers and push the tray into the chassis until it stops.
Step 3. Rotate the I/O tray release levers until they lock, fully closed.
After installing the I/O tray
• If you are done performing installation or maintenance procedures at the rear of the chassis, reconnect the
cables. See “Cable the server” on page 64.
• Update the Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) and DMI/SMBIOS data with new vital product data (VPD).
Use the Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager Lite to update the UUID and DMI/SMBIOS data. See
“Update the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID)” on page 155 and “Update the DMI/SMBIOS data” on page
157.
• Enable TPM/TCM. See “Enable TPM/TCM” on page 159.
• Optionally, enable Secure Boot.
Update the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID)
The Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) must be updated when the system board is replaced. Use the Lenovo
XClarity Provisioning Manager Lite to update the UUID in the UEFI-based server. Lenovo XClarity Essentials
OneCLIcan be used to update the UUID in the UEFI-based server as a command line option. Lenovo XClarity
Essentials OneCLI is an online tool that supports several operating systems; make sure that you download
the version for your operating system.
1. Start the server and press F1 to display the Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager Lite system setup
interface.
2. From the System Summary page, click
Update VPD
.
3. Update the UUID.
Note:
You can use Lenovo XClarity Essentials OneCLI to update the UUID for the server.
