Chapter 9. Configuring Printer Network Addresses
Important
Defining the printer’s network address should be performed by a
network administrator or someone familiar with network addresses. If
you have Ethernet and Token Ring Quick Configuration Guide, please refer
to it when you configure your Ethernet or token-ring card.
Use this section to set the following values from the operator panel:
v
IP address
v
Subnet mask
v
Gateway address
v
Locally administered MAC address
Note:
The MAC address is the Globally Administered Address (GAA). The
MAC address can be changed to the Locally Administered address
(LAA).
Setting IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Addresses
To set an IP, subnet mask, or gateway address for the printer, perform these
steps:
1.
Press the Online key to take the printer OFFLINE.
2.
Press the Menu key until the operator panel displays ETHERNET MENU
or TOKEN RING MENU.
3.
Press the Item key until the operator panel displays the address to change
(IP ADDRESS, SUBNET MASK, or GATEWAY ADDRESS). This example
shows how to change the IP ADDRESS.
4.
Press the Enter key. For a new printer whose IP address has not yet been
set, the operator panel displays:
IP ADDRESS 0<0.0.0 *
The “<” indicates the field whose value you can change at this point.
5.
Press the Value key until the desired value is displayed. The range of the
address values is zero to 255. To decrement the value, simultaneously
press the Value key and the Shift key. To increment or decrement the
value by 10, press and hold the keys.
