Configuring the HP StoreAll 9730 Storage systems
This section provides instructions for configuring the HP StoreAll 9730 Storage system.
IMPORTANT:
These installation instructions are intended for use with only those HP StoreAll
Storage systems that have never been configured and are installed with the current HP StoreAll
OS Software version of the HP StoreAll OS Software (see
“Factory default and current HP StoreAll
OS Software version information” (page 7)
). If you already have a configured system and are
upgrading your version of the HP StoreAll OS Software, see the HP StoreAll OS Upgrade Guide
for upgrade instructions (for the applicable version).
If at any time during this portion of the installation process you experience any issues, see
“Troubleshooting HP StoreAll 9730 Storage system installation issues” (page 101)
for solutions to
common installation issues.
Before you begin configuring HP StoreAll 9730 Storage systems
Before beginning HP StoreAll 9730 Storage system configuration procedures:
•
Review
“HP StoreAll 9730 hardware configuration information” (page 74)
.
•
Review
“Configuring HP StoreAll 9730 nodes with iLO” (page 75)
•
Review
“Verifying LUNs and component firmware” (page 76)
.
•
Make sure that the AD server and the NTP server are synchronized with the same time, and
that the AD server and the HP StoreAll cluster are configured to synchronize the time from the
same NTP server. During the installation process, you will be prompted to configure an NTP
server for time synchronization. However, after a cluster node is joined to a service, the cluster
attempts to synchronize the time with the AD server. If the NTP and AD servers are not
synchronized, this issue causes the cluster nodes to receive conflicting time updates, which
can lead to errors, such as file system creation failures.
•
Know the required IP addresses, as specified in
“IP address requirements for flat (unified)
networks” (page 27)
.
•
Know the administrator passwords for OA and VC. The default passwords are on the labels
affixed to the back of the chassis.
•
Ensure that port 69 (tftp) is open before starting the installation.
•
If you are performing configuration procedures on an existing cluster, ensure that the same
version of the HP StoreAll OS Software is installed on all nodes.
HP StoreAll 9730 hardware configuration information
The HP StoreAll 9730 Storage system is configured at the factory as follows:

The factory default version of the HP StoreAll OS Software is installed on the nodes (see
“Factory default and current HP StoreAll OS Software version information” (page 7)
) version
information for the HP StoreAll 9730 Storage system.
•
LUNs are created and preformatted on the 9730 CX storage system.
•
Depending on the system size, the HP StoreAll 9730 Storage system is partially or totally
pre-racked and cabled.
