Setting the HI
ALARM
Tolerance
Step 1. Press the down arrow
↓
button until the cursor is to the left of
the HI ALARM Sub-Menu.
•
The HI ALARM is a tolerance parameter set above the
high set point rate. (See Fig. 6-15)
Step 2. Press the Clear button to clear the value.
Step 3. Use the numeric keys to set the tolerance for the highest set
point in the process. For example: If you have a high set point
of 8 lbs/min, and want a HI ALARM at 8.5 lbs/min, set the HI
ALARM value to 0.50.
Step 4. Press the Enter button to accept the new value.
Step 5. Press the Exit button if you don’t want to change the values or
entered a wrong value.
Setting the
ALARM TIME

The ALARM TIME is the time that the actual rate is outside either
the HI ALARM tolerance or the LO ALARM tolerance before the
alarm condition begins.
•
Set the ALARM TIME so that the value is long enough o ignore
momentary out of tolerance flow rates and short enough to provide
a responsive alarm.
•
When an Alarm condition exists for longer then the allowed period,
the “Alarm” relay energizes and the top line of the operations dis-
play reads “**LO RATE ALARM****” or ‘**HI RATE
ALARM****” and if an audio or visual alarm has been connected
to the controller that alarm is energized alerting the operator that an
alarm condition exists. For Remote I/O systems a bit is set and the
alarm is indicated on the display of the PLC or computer.
NOTE:
It is highly recommended that the user install a visual or audio alarm to the alarm
relay at the rear panel of the HI 2160RC
PLUS
in order to determine when the process
is in an alarm condition. See Chapter 3 - Installation for more information.
•
The Alarm message does not clear itself it the process adjusts itself
out of the alarm condition.
•
To clear the alarm from the front panel:
•
Press the Clear button. The security message appears.
•
Enter the LO or MED level security code number.
•
Press the Enter button. A “Clear Alarm No” message
appears.
•
Press the Select button to select YES.
•
Press the Enter button. The alarm relay is reset. The alarm
message is cleared from the display. the audio or visual
alarms are turned off.
•
To clear the alarm using a remote I/O.
